Char Dham Yatra suspended; only virtual access to temples allowed

Given the sudden spike in the cases of Coronavirus in the country, the revered Char Dham yatra has been called off this year. However, to make devotees happy, the Uttarakhand administration has made arrangements for online darshan. The authorities of the Char Dham Devasthanam Board have made special arrangements for the virtual visit.

Every year, devotees from all over the country visit Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines, collectively known as the Char Dham. But this year, devotees will have to be content with virtual darshan of these shrines. It’s not that only outsiders are barred but the temples will remain shut for local residents as well amid the pandemic.

According to the authorities, a website and other mediums are being created and updated, and will allow devotees virtual access to the temples. Though the yatra has been cancelled, there will be priests at all these religious sites to offer prayers regularly; they are required to follow all COVID protocols.

Gangotri Dham will open at 7.31 AM on Saturday, which is the the auspicious day of Baishakh Shukla Tritiya
