In a positive development, Dubai Tourism has allowed water sports and skydiving activities in the country along with allowing private beaches to open. On Tuesday, the tourism department issued a set of guidelines to restart water sports and other outdoor activities that were shut down completely due to the spread of deadly Coronavirus.

The government has also eased restrictions for private beaches in hotels by allowing them to reopen. Though it’s not yet confirmed when these proposed guidelines will come into effect, the circular suggests that any outdoor activities involving more than five people will be prohibited.

As per circular, watersports, boating and biking activities will be allowed in Dubai and also the equipment for the same will be provided by the authorities. The activities include jet-skiing and sky-diving too. People would be able to enjoy watersports and boat and bike rentals too.

However, the circular clearly prohibits swimming pools, gyms along with other health and spa centres from opening. Also children’s play areas and prayer rooms will be closed.

Here are certain health guidelines people need to follow:

– Wearing gloves and masks is mandatory, for visitors, on-site staff and even for children.

– Temperature checks are mandatory for all on-site staff.

– People are required to bring their personal linens for use.

– All the utensils must be disposable.

– Boats must be fully disinfected (including jet skis) after each use.

– Life jackets and other rental equipment to be disinfected after every use.

– Everyone is supposed to practise social-distancing guidelines across operating facilities and maintain a two-metre-clear distance between people, and four-metre clear distance between two groups of people.

– Not more than five people in one group (can be family, friends or trainers, etc)

– For Jet Skiing, only one person will be allowed.

– For skydiving, capacity will be reduced to ensure social distancing.
