Finally, tourist travel to the space will be possible. Amazon founder and the world’s richest person, Jeff Bezos are the first two tourists ready to travel to the space on Blue Origin’s first human spacecraft, with his brother, Mark Bezos.

The scheduled date for their journey is July 20, 2021. Jeff Bezos announced the fulfilment of his childhood ambition on his Instagram, “On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother.”

According to the Blue Origin website New Shepard will take off to space on July 20, 2021. They are offering one seat on this first flight to the winning bidder of an online auction. The auction has received more than 6000 participants, and the highest bid for now is $3500000. The person winning the auction will fly with the Bezos brothers.

The New Shepherd has received its name after Mercury astronaut Alan Shepard, who was the first American to go to space. The spaceship is meant to fly six people. It is described as a ‘reusable suborbital rocket system’ made to fly across the Kármán line – the internationally recognised boundary of space.

Reportedly, the spacecraft has done 15 un-staffed test flights into space. Jeff Bezos expressed his excitement and long-due ambition on his Instagram by saying that it’s a thing he has wanted to do all his life.” He added, “It’s an adventure. It’s a big deal for me.”
