France ready to welcome vaccinated oversea tourists

After remaining in lockdown for more than an expected period, France is now ready to welcome oversea tourists, including from the US. However, tourists must be fully vaccinated and carry a proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The tourists must be vaccinated by approved vaccines like Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson and they need to be fully vaccinated two weeks past their second dose.

As per the US Embassy and Consulates in France, US citizens who are fully vaccinated and kids under the age of 11 can travel to France for tourism purposes without quarantine. However, the US is still under the orange list so the travellers will have to provide a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours or a negative antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to departure.

French President Emmanuel Macron has asked people to be cautious with the reopening. He took to Twitter and wrote, “A new step will be taken. Life will resume across our lands. It is part of our culture, of our art of living, that we are going to reacquaint ourselves with”.

France has already reopened its cultural attractions such as the Louvre Museum with limited capacity. The country has also allowed bars and restaurants to start serving outdoors and now the restaurants have been given permission to seat guests inside too, which is a huge move.

The country has also increased its curfew time to 11 PM. If everything goes fine, and there’s no hike in COVID-19 cases, France will loosen more restrictions by June 30.
