The Minister of Health and Family Welfare under the Government of India has now issued new guidelines for those arriving to India. International travellers coming into India are to follow these guidelines, and adhere to every policy laid out. These guidelines will come into force from August 8, 12:01 am. At the outset, travellers are expected to submit a self-declaration form at least 72 hours before their scheduled departure. This must be done on the website newdelhiairport.in.

The guidelines have been divided into four parts, we will take a look at their important points here below –

Before planning to travel
As mentioned above, the self-declaration form must be filled in by passengers at least 72 hours before their scheduled departure. Passengers should also give an undertaking in the portal newelhiairport.in, stating that they will undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days. Out of these 14 days, seven days should be spent in institutional quarantine at your own cost, while the remainder days to be spent in home quarantine.

Home quarantine for all 14 days will be permitted only for valid reasons, such as, death in the family, or pregnancy. Children under the age of ten can also go on home quarantine for 14 days.

Before boarding

Passengers are advised to download the Arogya Setu app when arriving in India, and you will be handed a list of dos and don’ts. Also, it is very important to note here that only asymptomatic passengers will be permitted to board the aircraft.

The same is true for passengers who are arriving through land borders into the country.

During travelling
Those who were unable to fill the self-declaration form online, will be required to fill the same in flight. A copy of this shall be handed to Health and Migration officials at the airport. All precautionary measures must be followed, hence it is important to listen to all announcements made at the airport.

Wearing masks on board, and practicing social distancing are compulsory.

On arrival
The guideline says that deboarding must be done with social distancing, and thermal screening should be carried out as well. Any passenger found to be symptomatic will be isolated immediately.

The institutional quarantine is to be arranged by respective state and Union Territory governments. If found negative after seven days of institutional quarantine, you will be permitted to go home and complete the remainder of the seven days in home quarantine.
