With more positive cases of COVID-19 registered in the country, the government is taking all necessary steps to contain it. As per the latest reports, in a bid to make people aware of the developments and curb rumours from spreading via word of mouth or any social media, the Central Government has now introduced a Whatsapp helpdesk.

It is a government-owned and verified platform for citizen engagement, and mygov.in has notified a WhatsApp no for the same. The WhatsApp no that has been issued in the public interest by mygov is +91-90131-51515.

Referring to this, Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal tweeted, “Prepare, Don’t Panic: Government launches MyGov Corona Helpdesk on WhatsApp for alerting citizens & disseminating information.”

Citizens will just need to add the said number into their contact list and send a customary ‘Hi’ to get a response from the helpline portal. The helpline desk will respond by providing a helpline number 011-23978046, a toll-free number 1075 and email- [email protected] to contact in case of emergency or if you have to clear any doubts regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

This will be followed up by an instant message that will give users the option of selecting a question from a pool of questions, which can be any common question arising in anyone’s mind amid the ongoing crisis. The questions are stacked up with options in alphabetical order. One can select any of the options to get the response for the question they have in their mind.

Yesterday, PM Modi addressed the nation and asked citizens not to panic and stated what they need to do in such times of crises. He also stated about the Janta Curfew, which will be implemented country-wide on Sunday from 7 AM to 9 PM, wherein everyone is supposed to stay indoors.
